The Pindrop team is on their way to the west coast today for Black Hat 2015 and DEF CON 23. These are far from your typical security conferences. The focus is on the science of hacking – how it works, and how to make it harder to do.
Pindrop will be supporting the conferences in several ways – sponsoring two innovative contests, and co-hosting our 4th annual ALLinPARTY. Of course, we’ll also be meeting researchers, analysts, press, and others at the events. If you’d like to connect, drop us an email and we’ll set up a meeting.
Robocalls: Humanity Strikes Back
Pindrop is excited to be partnering with the Federal Trade Commission for the “Robocalls: Humanity Strikes Back” challenge. Participants were asked to build a crowd-source honeypot that would enable people with landlines or mobile phones to identify robocalls. Pindrop’s PhoneypotTM and newly developed robocall detection algorithms will be used to demonstrate, test and score the finalist’s solutions.
Date: Friday and Saturday, August 7-8, 2015
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: FTC Booth in the Contest Area on the Bally’s side of the conference.
Social Engineering Capture the Flag
We’re also proud to be partnering with the team at Social-Engineering.org for the 6th Annual Social Engineering Capture The Flag Contest at DEF CON. Stop by the Social Engineering Village to see real social engineering attacks in progress. It will open your eyes to how simple it is for real criminals to attack over the phone channel.
Dates: Friday, August 7, 2015
Times: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: The Social Engineer Village, Bally’s Palace Room 3-4-5
Back by popular demand, Pindrop will again be co-hosting a party to wrap-up Black Hat. Join us for drinks, music, and fun as we close out another great year at Black Hat.
Location: Minus 5° Ice Bar
Date: Thursday, August 6, 2015
Time: 9pm – Close
