UNIQUE PHONE: Has this caller been seen before? Fraudsters often change phone numbers, but it is much harder to change the audio characteristics that Pindrop uses to create a unique identifier for the call audio characteristics.
The Phoneprint is highly resilient –detecting the techniques fraudsters use to hide their true number or impersonate a legitimate caller. In addition, this technology identifies multiple callers associated with the same phoneprint, allowing enterprises to detect and track fraud rings. Phoneprinting is the only technology that can see through these attacker tactics.
Phoneprinting detects these fraud tactics:
CALLER ID SPOOFING: Callers deliberately falsify the telephone number or ANI relayed as part of the Caller ID information. There are hundreds of free phone apps that make it easy to spoof a phone number. Phoneprinting compares the information reported with Caller ID to the true device and location information to find anomalies that indicate spoofing.
VOICE DISTORTION: Criminals have many techniques for hiding their voice over they phone. Some may be good actors or fake a bad connection. Others use sophisticated voice distortion technology. Phoneprinting relies on the total audio of the call – much more than the sound of the voice alone.
SOCIAL ENGINEERING: Fraudsters are practiced in the art of manipulating people into giving up confidential information or breaking normal security procedures. Phoneprinting adds a layer of security that does not rely on what the caller is actually saying. Instead, it looks for risk factors in the information the caller can’t control.
