On Friday, the BBC’s Money Box reporter, Bob Howard, released the behind the scenes details of a fake call center operation targeting the one of the world’s biggest hotel booking websites, Booking.com. An anonymous whistle blower described calling foreign tourists and telling them that the company had changed its billing policy and now needed advanced payment for their hotel reservations.
Also on Friday, IT Business Edge reviewed the top 10 phone scams of 2014. The scams are based on Pindrop Security’s recent report on the top consumer phone scams of the year. Major scams include credit card interest rate scams, home security systems, and free cruise offers.
